PKI Overheid Personal Certificates

PKI Overheid Personal Certificates are issued to individuals associated with organisations and may be used for tasks such as secure e-mail, secure access to SSL web sites, and digital signatures for electronic documents such as contracts and forms.

A PKI Overheid Personal Certificate may be used to create qualified electronic signatures, providing non-repudiation. This electronic signature is recognised in Europe as a legally valid signature and has a special status within the Dutch Government.

PKI Overheid Services Certificates

PKI Overheid Services certificates are issued to devices/servers or groups of individuals and are used to secure communications between electronic government applications and services. Uses include SSL-secured websites, secure general (not personal) e-mail addresses, code signing software, and certification of electronic documents.
